Carl Wilkinson was born in Fiji in 1978. He read English at Oxford University before working at The Times. He is now a freelance writer covering subjects as diverse as the current music scene in New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina, ice driving in the Arctic Circle, the Bardi people of North West Australia, and the growth in public libraries in Colombia. He has written for The Times, The Telegraph, The Observer, GQ and currently writes features and book reviews for the FT and the ‘Is It Worth It?’ column for the FT Weekend magazine.
